Okoro/Setu Asset Overview
The Okoro and Setu fields are located in OML 112, within 6.5km of each other. Okoro field was appraised in 2006 and production commenced in 2008. The Setu field is yet to be developed.
Okoro Field
Okoro field was discovered in 1973 by Japan Petroleum with the Okoro-1 well. The well-encountered oil in two zones in the Agbada Formation and was logged and tested.
The Okoro-2 well was drilled in 1974 at the eastern extension of the field and was water wet. At the time discovery was considered uneconomic and was therefore not considered for development, and subsequently abandoned.
In 2006, Total farmed into OML 112 but elected not to participate in the development of Okoro field, which AFREN subsequently became a Technical Partner.
An exploration well Okoro-3 was drilled in 2006 by AFREN. The well was successful and allowed reserves to be proved which made the subsequent development possible. Field development started in 2007 and production commenced in 2008; seven production wells were initially drilled.
Four appraisal wells drilled found additional reserves and the sidetracking of two existing wells to improve reserve recovery. The Okoro field is covered by modern 3D seismic data which was acquired in 2012 using ocean-bottom cables.

Okoro Further Field Development
In 2012 the Okoro-13 exploration well discovered additional reservoirs to the east of the initial producing reservoirs. This has led to the planning of the Okoro Further Field Development which will develop the new reservoirs and provide additional barrels to the overall recovery from the two fields. The FDP for this development was approved by the Department of Petroleum Resources in 2014. In 2016 and 2018, six new wells were drilled in the Eastern lobe, bringing the 2018 production peak of 22,000 BOPD.
Setu Field
Setu field is located 6.5 km North of Okoro and was discovered by Amni in 2002 with the Setu East-1 well. Five oil-bearing zones were encountered in the Agbada Formation. A second well, Setu East-2, was drilled to the west.
