Community involvement

Amni is proactive in community relations activities in its areas of operation and nearby coastal areas. To relate with each community a widely representative Community Relations Committee (CRC) is formed so that the Community can interact with Amni and its partners periodically.

To increase the breadth of interaction, members of the CRC are changed every other year. The CRC functions as a consultative needs assessment vehicle and meets regularly with Management to fashion out programs that will touch the greatest number of people within the community.  The areas of most needs identified with consultation and supported are:

Education

Education is a key tool in the economy, CSR in education helps develop skilled workforce for the future. 

- Oyorokoto community: Construction and furnishing of a six classroom block
- Unyeada community: Construction and furnishing of a six classroom block
- Asarama community: Construction and furnishing of a six classroom block
- Nkpogu community Secondary School - Contribution of books and furniture for the library
- Nkpogu community Secondary School: borehole, electrification and property maintenance
- Iko community: Construction and furnishing of multipurpose science laboratory
- Amadaka community: Construction and furnishing of multipurpose science laboratory
- Okoroete community: Construction and furnishing of multipurpose science laboratory
- Eastern Obolo LGA: provision of school exercise books, math sets and calculators
- Nkpogu community: Building & furnishing of school laboratory and gate house. Painting & furnishing of Principal’s office

 

 

 

Infrastructure

Infrastructure has a crosscutting impact on the productive activities of an economy. 

- Amadaka community: construction of a jetty
- Emereoke community: construction of a jetty
- Ikonta/Obianga community: construction of a jetty
- Ataba community: construction of a Police post
- Ngo community: jetty construction
- Agbakoroma community: construction of a security & generator house and borehole
- Nkpogu community: construction of drainage/culvert
- Nkpogu Community: procurement and installation of 500KVA Electricity transformer
- Nkpogu community: drilling of six boreholes
- Andoni community: donated speed boat and engine (7HP)

AMNI ethically contributes to community health and well-being. 

- Oronija community: construction and furnishing of a health centre
- Egwede community: construction and furnishing of a medical/health centre

Capacity building

Through capacity building, communities are empowered by enhanced skills, knowledge and resources. 

- Nkpogu community: university scholarships
- Nkpogu: sporting activity sponsorship
- Andoni university scholarships
- Eastern Obolo Youth Entrepreneurship program
- Eastern Obolo: women’s empowerment program
- Eastern Obolo fishing co-operative: donated fishing gear
- Eastern Obolo community: donated three 18-seater buses
- Eastern Obolo community: donated three speed boats with 75HP engines each
- Eastern Obolo: donated 100 motorcycles to 100 Eastern Obolo youths, 10 from each ward with 2 helmets each, training them and assisting them to obtain operating licenses
